Pick The Perfect Wedding Jewellery

5 TIPS TO PICk THE PERFECT WEDDING JEWELLERY

Picking wedding accessories may seem like an easy feat compared to other decisions that need to be made regarding planning a wedding. However, for some, it can be a challenging process to pick the perfect wedding jewellery. Choosing the right jewellery is important as it accentuates the overall bridal look and creates that perfect bridal sparkle on the day!

With so many styles and options of jewellery to choose from, choosing the right accessories can be overwhelming.

So, to make your jewellery journey easier, we have compiled a quick bridal guide on how to pick the perfect wedding jewellery to complement your overall look.

  1.  Buy your dress first

This goes without saying -but we will say it anyway! Matching jewellery to a dress that doesn’t exist is very difficult and could turn into a costly exercise! It is best to buy your dress first, so you know what you are working with. What sort of neckline does your dress have? Is it plunging or high neck? Is it lacy, jewel- encrusted, white, coloured or ivory? Knowing all of these features in advance is very helpful in matching the perfect statement jewellery piece.

As a general rule of thumb, The Knot has some has some great ideas when it comes to matching jewellery with your gown’s neckline.

And what about matching jewellery to the colour of your dress?

Again, The Knot has some great inspiration for this:
White gowns match best with silver or platinum jewellery
Ivory gowns pair well with gold jewellery to accentuate the creamy shade of colour
Blush gowns work well with rose gold or silver jewellery
Champagne gowns also work well with gold jewellery to accentuate the warm tones of the dress.

2. Less is more

When it comes to picking the perfect wedding jewellery, sometimes it can be tempting to overdo it with lots of different accessories. The rule of thumb is ‘less is more’ when it comes to accessorising. Your dress is the statement piece; therefore your jewellery choices should be there to complement it, rather than take the focus away!

3. Stick to similar metals

Jewellery comes in many shapes, sizes and metals; however when it comes to accessorising your wedding dress, it is best to go for a just one metal (max two) on your wedding day (ie. Just Gold). Too many different metals can clash with your wedding dress, so keeping it simple with one or two metals is the best option. When it comes to sentimental jewellery, it may be tricky to match so try and limit it to two metals

4. Consider your hair style

This point can go overlooked but is an important consideration regarding your overall bridal look. Are you having your hair up or down? Will you feature a headpiece, flower band or veil? The style of your hair may impact on your ability to wear earrings or a necklace. If your headpiece is the statement accessory, then you may not need big earrings or a striking necklace. If your hair is down, you may not see earrings at all, so consider this before making any big, costly purchases!

5. Reflect Your Own Personality and Style – Do You!

Ok so we have given you some basic tips to get you on your way to pick the perfect wedding jewellery; however, most important of all is to be yourself. Your jewellery pieces should also reflect who you are so don’t feel you have to change your style, just for one day if it isn’t truly your cup of tea!
