While it is such an exciting and wonderful time, planning a wedding is considered one of the most stressful times in your life, up there with buying or selling your home and changing jobs. So it’s important to remember your, and your partner’s, health and wellbeing and to help here are 6 tips for self-care to help with wedding planning stress.
1. Sleep is important!
We sometimes forget just how important getting good and consistent sleep is. Sleep is essential for your body, mind, energy and stress management. Aim for at least seven to eight hours sleep each night. And try to be consistent with the same or similar bedtime every night. It will absolutely pay off.
2. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and delegate
If you have family or friends that have offered to help, and you trust them, then take them up on the offer. You don’t have to do it all yourself!
3. Book in some down time
Don’t forget to continue with date nights. And if you can, take a night or two away in the months leading up to the wedding, just the two of you. No wedding planning, just quality time. It’ll give you a chance to catch your breath, switch off, relax, and give your brain and sanity a little rest.
4. Schedule in a massage and some facials
Treat yourself! Keep your skin hydrated and taken care of while relaxing too. This will lead into a regular skin routine you can continue at home.
5. Try some relaxation techniques
Yoga, meditation, walks, exercise – whatever helps you to relax, unwind and de-stress do it and do it regularly. Incorporate it as part of your daily or weekly routine.
6. Continue your hobbies
We know your busy and it feels like the list is endless, but remember you’re more than your wedding and giving your brain something else to focus on is healthy. If you have regular hobbies that you love and may have placed on the backburner, reignite them. Spend time doing the things you love. You can balance it with wedding planning.
