Spring Wedding Trends 2022

As we all settle back into the familiar world of social events and celebrating the nuptials of family and friends we’ve noticed a few new trends popping up. We have noticed midweek weddings, couples opting for a more intimate setting with fewer guests, as well as outdoor venues taking preference. Continuing to get used to living with Covid will no doubt see weddings continue to evolve and here are a few wedding trends that are set to hit in Spring.

Showcasing Spring Blooms

Having a wedding in a garden or natural setting that will have springtime flowers in full bloom not only looks incredible but also saves the cost of purchasing flower arrangements.

Now as more couples opt for outdoor wedding venues, you can expect the natural blooms to be tied in with the theme. Perhaps a garden dotted in daffodils will have yellow tied into the invitations, or a spectacular rose garden will see the groomsmen wearing roses on their lapels.

Warm Fireplaces

The spring weather tends to offer beautiful crisp sun for the ceremony but when the sun goes down there is still a bit of a chill so a fireplace and some comfy couches or chairs can help create a warm and cosy environment. There’s nothing like a warm, cosy snuggle by the fireplace when love is in the air.

Eco Friendly

Using pot plants instead of flower arrangements, locally sourced food, confetti made of hole-punched leaves and digital or recycled paper invitations are what we can expect to see from more environmentally conscious couples. Not only will eco-friendly options minimise your environmental impact but also tend to save money in the long run.

Dessert Bars

These have been around for a while but are set to have increased popularity in spring. Dessert lovers will be able to indulge with bit size dessert portions, which they can pick and choose depending on their taste.

Face painting

This may seem unusual to have at a wedding however face painting is not just for the kids. Face painters are more like makeup artists with a flair for beautiful designs and face painting is a great way to introduce something more artistic and fun to a wedding. Think delicate flower on your cheek or glittery silver deigns to match your diamonds. But if you do want to go for a tiger face, who are we to judge. This is a great activity if you have children attending the wedding as well.

Buffets are out, Food Trucks and Canapés are in

It’s no surprise that buffets are not as popular as they used to be. Instead food trucks and canapés will be the option of choice at many spring weddings. However, if you do go for this option you should ensure that your guests are served with plenty of food early on. You may want to check timings of when food will be served with your caterers so that your guests have plenty to eat and don’t have to haunt the waiting staff. A wedding with only alcohol and no food can end up a messy affair.

Spring Wedding Dress Trends

The traditional white wedding dress is seeing a facelift with splashes of colour such as pink or blue. Some brides are making a statement and opting for dresses that look more suited for the met gala than nuptials. The take away from this is to make your day your own. If you don’t want traditional don’t go with traditional… Wear what you want and love your day. Below are some of the dress trends you may see at upcoming spring weddings.

2-piece wedding dresses, a change from the wedding to the ceremony
We have seen a trend begin to take off with dresses that transform as the night progresses. The ceremony begins with a formal version and at the reception the bride is able to remove some layers and reveal a more comfortable ‘party’ dress.

Plunging necklines
Spring 2022 looks set to have some plunging necklines so have the Hollywood tape on standby.

Sheer Dresses
Sheer dresses dotted with delicately placed jewels or sequins are set to awe guests as the bride walks down the isle.

Floral
As a salute to the spring blooms, you might see floral designs taking prominence on wedding dresses. From embroidered floral stitching to subtly coloured floral print on a white dress, flowers will light up dresses and compliment outdoor weddings this spring.

Puff Sleeves
If you thought they were left in the 80s you were mistaken. This trend from the Wedding Singer era is expected to make a resurgence this spring with an 80s playlist to accompany the bridal party on the dance floor.
