Wedding Venue

What to consider when selecting your Wedding Venue

Choosing your wedding venue will be one of the first decisions you make during the wedding planning process. That’s why we have put together a list of what to consider when selecting your wedding venue as it’s an important step to get right!

1. Theme

Destination wedding? Perhaps a laid-back backyard wedding? Whatever it is that you decide on you must consider the overall theme you’re aiming for and find the perfect venue to achieve that. Whether it’s an indoor or outdoor setting, a classic or rustic atmosphere, creating a mood board of this theme can help bring your ideas to life and will assist you in finding your perfect venue.

2. Budget

Okay, we know this one’s a boring point, but we must keep this realistic. Setting a budget for your wedding venue needs to be done to ensure you have enough money for all the other aspects of your special day. Your budget will help you stick to the logistics around whether you can afford the venue or not and make your experience as stress free as possible. Beware of any hidden fees or taxes that were not included in the initial quote for the wedding venue.

3. Capacity

It’s important to keep in mind your guest list when choosing your wedding venue. How many people will be attending?, Whether the venue can accommodate the attendees? Also whether the facilities they have are suitable?. These are all important things you need to ask yourself before making your final decision.

4. Location

Location is a big one! Is there accommodation nearby for anyone travelling a far distance? Is there enough parking? If you are choosing to have a break between the ceremony and the reception is there something nearby for the guests to do. For example, a nearby pub or beer garden, where your guests can enjoy a drink or bite to eat between services.

5. Food and Catering

When choosing your wedding venue, you must consider the catering options available. Are you after a sit-down meal , or would you prefer a cocktail styled event. The venue you’re interested in may not have catering options available. In that case you would need to seek out an external vendor, if permitted, for example food trucks or an independent catering company.

6. Think about the Season

Are you having a summer, winter, autumn, or spring wedding? –  If your wedding is in summer, make sure there is air conditioning or shade available. If you’re planning a winter wedding and your venue is outdoors, make sure the venue also has an indoor space as having a back-up option is a crucial!

To find your dream wedding venue don’t forget to start with understanding your preferred wedding theme, confirm your budget and guest list, then move onto your ideal location and food requirements. If you follow this checklist, finding your perfect wedding venue will be a breeze. Happy wedding planning!
